<p>Hermosa Beach is a beachfront city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Its population was 19,506 at the 2010 U.S. Census. The city is located in the South Bay region of the Greater Los Angeles area; it is one of the three Beach Cities.</p>

<p>Manhattan Beach is a laid-back South Bay community popular with families and outdoor enthusiasts. The Strand bike path winds along the oceanfront between modern mansions and wide stretches of sand lined with volleyball courts. Low-key Manhattan Beach Pier features a quaint aquarium and views of surfers. There are several parks, and a small downtown area with boutiques, brunch cafes, pubs & creative, upscale eateries.</p>

<p>Belmont Heights is a district in the south-east portion of the city of Long Beach, California, United States, bordering the Pacific Ocean and the more commercial community of Belmont Shore. The district commemorates the old City of Belmont Heights, which was incorporated in 1908 and annexed to Long Beach in 1909. <sup id="cite_ref-C7802_1-0" class="reference"></sup>Belmont Heights' borders are Ocean Boulevard and Livingston Drive to the south, Redondo Avenue on the west, 7th Street to the North, and Nieto Avenue to the east. The area is mostly residential, but also has an active business district, the strip of Broadway east of Redondo Avenue.<sup id="cite_ref-Meeks_2-0" class="reference"></sup></p>
<p>The Belmont Heights Historic District includes homes between 7th Street on the north, 4th Street on the south, Newport Avenue on the west and Roswell Avenue on the east. A few properties located on 4th and 7th streets are included. The neighborhood was first subdivided and developed in the 1900s (decade). The oldest homes surviving today date from 1905. The predominant architectural style in the district is the&nbsp;Craftsman bungalow. Out of 304 homes surveyed, 206 are "contributing" Craftsman bungalows, and 125 of these are pristine unaltered examples. Other architectural styles found in the area that are considered contributing are&nbsp;Victorian,&nbsp;Mediterranean&nbsp;and&nbsp;Spanish Colonial Revival,&nbsp;Tudor Revival&nbsp;and&nbsp;Neo-Traditional. The period of architectural significance for the district is 1905-39. Construction peaked in 1922. Most homes are single-family, with some duplexes and a few apartment houses. Thirty-seven of the homes surveyed were ranked as "noncontributing", or 13 percent. The district commemorates the old City of Belmont Heights, which was incorporated in 1908 and annexed to Long Beach in 1909.<sup id="cite_ref-C7802_1-1" class="reference"></sup></p>
<p>Belmont Heights was incorporated as a city for one year before it annexed with Long Beach in 1909. Long Beach at the time was a dry town, so residents looking for alcohol would head over to the Heights for a drink at one of the taverns. <sup id="cite_ref-Puente_3-0" class="reference"></sup>The Green Long Beach Festival was created after several activists shared ideas at the Viento y Agua Coffee Shop in Belmont Heights. <sup id="cite_ref-Mellen_4-0" class="reference"></sup>Feral Parrots&nbsp;A notable feature of Belmont Heights is its large population of&nbsp;feral parrots. In between Redondo Avenue and Livingston Drive along Ocean Blvd, amongst the palm trees, this large population of birds can be seen and heard by people for many houses. Some consider these animals to be a nuisance due to their rather vocal and loud sounds. However, the residents of Belmont Heights have grown to accept them as part of their community.</p>

<p>Livingston Drive and 2nd Street form the heart of Belmont Shore, from approximately Bluff Park on the west to Alamitos Bay and Naples Island on the east. The eastern border on Alamitos Bay Beach is an inland beach that faces Naples Island across a channel. 2nd Street and the fifteen intersecting side streets make up the business district of Belmont Shore. The neighborhood features Spanish-style homes from the 1920s and 1930s, older houses remodeled and expanded into contemporary styles, numerous large contemporary houses, and sections of multifamily apartment buildings.</p>
<p>The business district is represented by the Belmont Shore Business Association (BSBA) and the residents are represented by the Friends of Belmont Shore and the Belmont Shore Residents Association (BSRA).</p>
<p>The southern coast of Belmont Shore is a south-facing Pacific Ocean beach that lies just inside the Long Beach breakwater. Due to the presence of the Federal breakwater, this beach experiences very little surf, and is not as popular for beachgoing during the summer months as are the nearby beaches of Seal Beach or Huntington Beach, for example. The area offshore of the ocean beach is, however, popular with kitesurfers, kayakers, and boaters.</p>
<p>Each summer, the portion of Bay Shore Avenue south of 2nd Street, at the eastern end of Belmont Shore, is closed to traffic from 9 am until 5 pm and is converted into a pedestrian and bicycle-only zone.</p>
<p>At the intersection of 54th Place and Ocean Boulevard, at the southeastern corner of Belmont Shore, lies the entrance to the Peninsula, a narrow, mile-long neighborhood of Long Beach surrounded by water on both sides, and the Alamitos Channel at the far end.</p>

<p>Cerritos (Spanish for little hills), formerly named Dairy Valley because of the preponderance of dairy farms in the area, is a suburban city in Los Angeles County, California, United States, and is one of several cities that constitute the Gateway Cities of southeast Los Angeles County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 49,041.[6] It is part of the Los Angeles&ndash;Long Beach&ndash;Anaheim, California Metropolitan Statistical Area designated by the Office of Management and Budget.</p>

<p><strong>Harbor City</strong>&nbsp;is a highly diverse neighborhood within the&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles_Harbor_Region" title="Los Angeles Harbor Region">Los Angeles Harbor Region</a>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<a class="mw-redirect" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles,_California" title="Los Angeles, California">Los Angeles, California</a>, with a population upward of 36,000 people. Originally part of the Rancho San Pedro Spanish land grant, the 2.58-square-mile Harbor City was brought into Los Angeles as a preliminary step in the larger city's consolidation with the port cities of Wilmington and San Pedro.</p>
<p>The area includes two high schools and seven other schools, as well as the Ken Malloy Harbor Regional and two other parks. There is a&nbsp;<a class="mw-redirect" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiser_Permanente_Hospital" title="">Kaiser Permanente Hospital</a>&nbsp;as well. Harbor City's percentage of high school graduates is larger than the city's as a whole.</p>

<p>Lawndale is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 32,769 at the 2010 census, up from 31,712 according to the 2000 census. The city is in the South Bay region of the Greater Los Angeles Area.</p>
<p>From the 1780s onward, the area that is now Lawndale was part of the Rancho Sausal Redondo, a land grant given by the Spanish colonial government that includes much of what is now the South Bayshore region. In 1905, Charles B. Hopper first subdivided the area and named it after the Chicago neighborhood of the same name. Lots sold slowly and different promotions were tried, such as promoting Lawndale as a chicken raising area. The first railway to run through Lawndale was the Inglewood Division of the Redondo Railway which would later become part of the Pacific Electric "Red Car" system. It ran down the middle of Railway Avenue (now Hawthorne Boulevard) until 1933. In 1927, the Santa Fe railroad arrived. After World War II, the immense demand for housing from returning veterans and California newcomers resulted in Lawndale's formation as a bedroom community. On December 28, 1959, it was incorporated as a city.</p>
